Great Taste Award for our Bumbleberry Dry Gin
We're thrilled to be amongst the winners at the 2019 Great Taste Awards.
Great Taste, the world’s most coveted food and drink awards, has announced its stars of 2019.
Out of 12,772 products sent in from over 100 different countries, we were awarded a 1-star Great Taste award for our Hussingtree Bumbleberry Dry Gin.
It follows our award of a Silver Medal at the Global Spirits Masters in July this year, for our Hussingtree Asparagus Dry Gin.
The Great Taste 1-star award means the judges agreed that our Bumbleberry Dry Gin delivers fantastic flavour. They stated the gin is “…cleverly crafted to produce a well rounded interesting gin, [with] a warm spiced finish and a clean mouthfeel. Perfect with tonic.”
Judged by over 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs, buyers, retailers and producers, as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.
Receiving the award is high recognition, especially as we only sold our first bottle of gin a little over 12 months ago! And we do all our flavour and product development ourselves.
Duncan Gilroy, Director at Hussingtree Gin, explains: “Entry into the Great Taste Awards happens at the start of the calendar year. At which point our Bumbleberry Gin had only been on the market for a few months, but customer feedback had shown it to be extremely popular. Receiving the 1-star award is solid proof of the quality of the gin alongside the flavour and product development process we go through 100% in house.”
Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding and packaging. Less than 1 in 4 entries received a 1-star award this year. Great Taste 2019 will reach its finale in September, with regional Great Taste Golden Fork winners and the Great Taste Supreme Champion 2019 will be revealed.
We are proud to be a member of various local and national associations, including the Guild of Fine Food by whom the Great Taste Awards are organised. Common amongst all the associations is a focus on supporting active local and independent business communities.
