During the summer of 2017 we had a number of conversations about the dream of creating our own gin. Having been on a range of gin tasting and gin making experiences during the preceding few years, our appetite had been truly whetted. By August 2017 those discussions became a little bit more serious...
Fast forwarded a few months and after many, many, many hours of reading all about the nuances of distillation, botanicals, flavour profiles and (yawn) taxes, alcohol duty, HMRC requirements...
Hussingtree Blends Ltd was born.
The company is owned and run by a trio of gin loving family members - husband and wife, Richard and Elaine Meredith, and Duncan Gilroy (son to Elaine). We bring with us a mix of skills from branding and management accounting to art and the craft of hand-making stuff!
Aside from our joint interest in gin is the shared and genuine thrill of giving this thing called making, marketing and selling premium distilled gin a go. As much as we're very, very serious about, and committed to, growing a successful business we're also in it for the enjoyment of the journey.
Steep learning curves
The amount we have learnt in a relatively short space of time is astounding. And it's given us tangible confidence that we can make something great - distinctive, flavoursome distilled gin inspired by the wonderful array of ingredients and flavours of our home county of Worcestershire.
Our first gin - Hussingtree Juneberry Gin - is due to launch in the early summer of 2018.
We've got lots to do, but a great deal has come together during the last few months. We can't wait to see how it all pans out. Stay with us to find out!
